Happy birthday to Mary Shelley, the author of the novel Frankenstein. In honor of her birthday, we celebrate FRANKENSTEIN DAY nationwide! Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein when she was only 18 years old, and published the final copy in 1818, at the age of 19. Since then, Frankenstein has spawned a whole new genre of monster flicks, horror stories, and remains a classic in literature and popular culture.

New to the market, Mattel has released a new line of dolls for kids to enjoy. They call themselves part of Monster High. Characters go as follows: Laguna Blue, Clawdeen Wolf, Draculaura, Frankie Stein, Cleo de Nile, Ghoula Yelps (not pictured), and Deuce Gorgon.

Bryant and then-teammate Shaquille O’Neal led the Lakers to three consecutive NBA championships from 2000 to 2002. After O’Neal’s departure following the 2003–04 season, Bryant became the cornerstone of the Lakers franchise. He led the NBA in scoring during the 2005–06 and 2006–07 seasons, setting numerous scoring records in the process. In 2006, Bryant scored a career high 81 points against the Toronto Raptors, the second most points scored in a single game in NBA history, second only to Wilt Chamberlain’s 100 point performance. In the 2007–08 season, he was awarded the regular season’s Most Valuable Player Award (MVP). After losing in the 2008 NBA Finals, Bryant led the Lakers to two consecutive championships in 2009 and 2010, and was named NBA Finals MVP on both occasions.
In 2010, Bryant became the all-time leading scorer in Lakers franchise history. Since his second year in the league, Bryant has started in every NBA All-Star Game that has been hosted, winning the All-Star MVP award in 2002, 2007, and 2009. He is a twelve-time member of the All-NBA team and ten-time All-Defensive team, and is the youngest player ever to receive defensive honors. In 2008, he won a gold medal at the 2008 Olympics as a member of the USA national team. Bryant was named NBA player of the decade by TNT and Sporting News.
Two men awaken at opposite ends of a grimy, disused bathroom, one in a water-filled bathtub. Both men are chained at the ankle to the pipes. Between them lies a corpse lying in a pool of blood, which appears to have shot himself in the head. He holds a revolver and a micro cassette recorder. They discover tapes in their pockets; the men learn from both tapes that one must escape the bathroom, while the other must kill the escapee before six o’clock, or he’ll lose his wife and daughter and be left to die. They find a bag containing two hacksaws, though neither is able to cut through the chains. Stuck, forever.

We all remember this DC Comic.Jonah battled alcoholism, and as an adult faced his mother’s turn to prostitution. Though he traveled extensively throughout the American West, he also ended up in South America and China. At one point he quit bounty hunting, married and had a son, and took up farming, though it did not last.
Hex’s facial injuries can be traced back to being sold into slavery by his father to some Apache for safe passage. Jonah eventually saved the chief from being killed by a mountain lion and was made an honorary member of the tribe. He was soon betrayed by the envious son of the chief while on a raid. He returned years later to challenge him in a sacred tomahawk battle, but the chief’s son sabotaged Jonah’s tomahawk. Jonah used his knife in self-defense when the tomahawk broke. The tribe saw this as breaking the rules of the sacred battle and sentenced Jonah to wear the mark of the demon by pressing a searing hot tomahawk to his face. They said his honorary relationship to the chief was the only thing that saved him from death.
